I bought this book and so far I'm really enjoying it.
A disclaimer: it's ideal to own a food processor to make effective use of this book. I only have a blender at home, and I have definitely missed a food processor on attempting a few of the recipes that require you to blend ingredients to a thick paste. My attempt to make tofu peanut cutlets ended up having to be abandoned as my blender just wouldn't co-operate with the paste once it got past a certain thickness. I'm sure it would have been tasty though -- I tried frying a bit of what I had managed to blend, and it smelled great.
Everything I've made from the book thus far has been tasty: the mango dessert is great (keeps well), the tofu kebabs are amazing with good thai chili dipping sauce. The green beans with tofu pesto almost came out looking like the picture in the book. Well, maybe not exactly, but it was pretty close and it tasted super. I couldn't quite get the agedashi tofu to come out looking like the picture in the book, but it was also very good.
What I really like about this book is that the steps for the recipes are laid out in a very accessible style. Most of the recipes are just a few steps, and the pictures really help to illustrate what's supposed to be happening as you go along. A few times the steps blend together, so it's good to read the recipe once or twice before embarking.
Another thing I like about the book is that the ingredient lists are not out of this world in terms of difficulty in obtaining them. There's quite a few Asian ingredients (thai chili sauce, some Japanese things), but I've seen most of these at the Whole Foods where I live and in Japanese supermarkets.
I would definitely recommend this book! Just make sure you have a good food processor, as over half the recipes in the book call for one. It's definitely a worthwhile investment. :)
