Real Simple has produced a book that does accomplish what its title proclaims. It has 189 recipes that are delicious and quick and simple. There is one recipe per page, although with all the white space the print could have been bigger to help in reading them. There is a colour picture for most, with hands on time and total time. The nutritional information is on pages in the back of the book which is a definite minus from being put with the appropriate recipes, but at least it is included. A key is also in the back for 30 minutes or less, heart healthy, one pot meal, vegetarian, no cook and family friendly. This really would have been better to have also been included on the recipe page.
Ingredients are given in American measurements although there is an equivalency chart in the back. Meat cooking temperatures with Real Simple's preferences and the USDA's guidelines are in a chart and a very handy baking pan substitution chart is also included. Recipes incorporated are; appetizers, soups, salads, poultry, beef and lamb, pork, seafood, pasta, vegetarian and desserts.
Recipes not to miss are; creamy salmon spread with horseradish, chopped steak salad, sausages with smashed potatoes and cornichons, salmon with brown butter almonds and green beans, peanut butter cup and pretzel terrine (even your company will be impressed), peanut butter cup cookies and maple pumpkin pie.
There are many wonderful recipes in this book that will impress your family and even company but yet are very simple to prepare.
