So I needed a new cookbook to help me start preparing healthier meals for my family of five, but with a few conditions: 1) The food had to actually taste good (not like cardboard!) and include a solid variety of recipes. After all, who besides Hollywood celebrities actually wants to eat that stereotypical diet dinner of boring, bland grilled chicken or fish and veggies and rice every day of life? 2) The recipe ingredients had to be affordable for the average family budget, not comprised of dozens of expensive, "exotic" fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices I've never heard of. 3) It wouldn't hurt if the recipes were actually easy to follow, either. The Taste Of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook fits the bill on all counts. Examples of recipes the whole family has especially enjoyed (and really there are no complete "flops" in this cookbook at all) include Tasty Italian Chicken, Chili Sauce Meat Loaf, Creamy Swiss Steak, Slow-Cooked Sweet 'N' Sour Pork, Beef And Spinach Lasagna (yes, lasagna!) and Dijon-Crusted Fish.
