The Shiitake Way by Jennifer Snyder is a fabulous vegetarian mushroom cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow, and great care is taken that they are all low fat and healthful. I especially love the mushroom loaf. It reminds me of my mom's meatloaf, from my childhood, but without the heavy meat. If you are interested in ways to cook these delightful mushrooms, but thought it might be difficult, try this book. It is inexpensive and well thought out. Andy Weil covers information regarding the health benefits as an added plus.

I had tried to make cheese from recipies I had found online with little success. I was rather frustrated and decided to buy this book and see what I was doing wrong. My first batch was a chedder cheese which came out exactly as the book promiced first time. My second batch was a gouda cheese which I upsized to a 3 gallon batch from the 2 gallon recipie using the instructions in the book and once again it came out perfect.
For the money it has to be the best aid to a home cheesemaker that one can buy. I highly recomend this book to anyone who wants to start out making cheese.

I just received this yesterday, so I haven't made any of the recipes yet. The book is stuffed full with timely, relevant info about leading a vegan lifestyle - vegan cooking/foods, vegan clothes and footwear, lists of vegan cosmetics companies on the Web, etc. Oh, and crafts, too! All presented in an attractive and fun format. I'm 44 and not all that hip, :), but I really like this book so far, a lot more than I thought I would. It's more like a little reference book for vegans. I wish I had this book 3 yrs ago when I first went vegan. The recipes look great, too, can't wait to try them. (Thank you for including a biscuits and gravy recipe!!)
